For the Gymnasium Carolinum, this year began with an exceptionally generous donation to the association “Ansbach für Malawi”.

On July 6, 2018, the physical education department, led by Ms. Nievelstein, held a cross-grade sponsored fundraising run whose proceeds of €2700 go entirely to the Ansbach aid association. The motto, “helping other children, getting moving yourself, and having lots of fun along the way”, was put into action with great enthusiasm by the sports-loving classes of the Gymnasium Carolinum.

All students from grades 5 to 11 completed a running course with various stations and were able to collect points along the way. Ahead of the run, the runners looked for sponsors – such as relatives, friends, or even companies – who supported the sponsored run financially.

For several years now, the Gymnasium Carolinum has been an important partner of the association “Ansbach für Malawi”. In addition to numerous activities such as the city run or the school’s internal project day, the Caro once again supported the work of the volunteer-run association this year with its sports festival.

The proceeds will be used exclusively to fund school projects in Malawi. At “Ansbach für Malawi”, 100% of all donations are always passed on to the projects, since all costs incurred are financed privately – so the donations arrive where they are really needed.

The money the students “ran in” goes to three schools in the country, where the association is involved not only in setting up school kitchens but also in hiring new teachers and in development and agriculture projects.
