Let the sunshine in!
A light goes on in Namatingwi!
And another one, and another one, and another one …
Getting things done in the evening, reading and doing homework … for the rural population of Malawi, this is anything but a given! After sunset, from around 6 p.m., darkness falls here. There is no nationwide power supply.
In cooperation with the association Abiola im Allgäu, we have now been able to provide 30 families in the village of Namatingwi in the Mulanje region with small solar power systems!
On our trip to Malawi last year, we met Wilson Kachikuwa and James Philippo, who supported us on the ground with the import and installation of the solar kits and, above all, showed great patience and tact in dealing with Malawian customs.
For six months, Wilson and James will now visit the families regularly and report on how the people are getting along with the solar systems.
And then? We are of course hoping for many more rays of hope for Malawi!
